A Brief Look at the Boeing Passenger Aircraft
737
The Boeing 737 is the most popular commercial passenger jet of all time. Each day, the 4,000 737s in service worldwide carry a combined total of more than a million passengers. Every 5.3 seconds, a 737 takes off from an airport somewhere on the globe.
747
The Boeing 747 is the largest airliner in commercial service. The latest model, the 747-400, is 231 feet 10 inches long (70.66 meters). The airplane itself weighs about 400,000 pounds (181,440 kilos), and fully loaded it weighs about 870,000 pounds (394,630 kilos).
767
The Boeing 767 is the favorite airplane on Atlantic routes; it flies from the United States to Europe more frequently than all other airplanes combined.
777
The Boeing 777 is the first airplane designed completely by computer. In passenger preference polls taken in 1999, passengers on European and Asian carriers preferred the 777 by a margin of three to one.
General Seattle Information
Seattle has a number of benefits, some as obvious as the view of the Olympic Mountains and the giant dagger of Mount Rainier which dominate the horizon. Seattle is an amazingly recreationally oriented city. It is close to skiing, parasailing, water-skiing, hiking and camping, wonderful beaches for sunbathing and walking at sunset, and also rock climbing, bicycling, kayaking...the list is endless.
Seattle has tremendous support for the arts, and is home to many interesting galleries, bookstores and museums, along with a world-renowned Symphony Orchestra, Opera House, and Ballet company.
Despite all of this, Seattle is still a city that is in control of its own growth. The streets are well maintained, and the city itself is very clean and easy. We always hear on our tours that visitors find Seattleites very friendly!
